I had been working on Oracle long time back and has exposure to SQL. Now I need to brush up my SQL skills for a project on SQL Server 2008. Could you please recommend a good resource (online/book)?
SQL Server 2008 and 2008 R2 End of Life SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2 reached their end of support on July 9, 2019, while Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 reached their deadline together with Windows 7 on January 14, 2020.
SQL Server 2019 is not supported on Windows Server 2008 R2, which is in any case heavily out-of-date and insecure. If you wanted to go with a direct upgrade path for your existing server, you must: First upgrade the operating system to Windows Server 2012 R2.
The only option one should follow if they are using SQL Server 2008/R2, is to upgrade it to the latest version of the SQL Server. SQL Server 2019 allows you to directly upgrade from SQL Server 2008/R2 and keep the database compatibility to the earlier version.
The "books online" help isn't too bad for SQL2008 i.e. usually several examples, shows the syntax clearly. You can download it separately.
