I have been trying to get an Android emulator running for a few weeks now with no luck. I first tried Xamarin Android Player and couldn't get it to work, so I decided to try Genymotion.
I installed a few virtual devices and get the same error for all.
Error: The device got no IP address. The virtualBox server has not assigned an IP address to the virtual device.
I tried several things that I found online (including stack overflow):
I have an AMD processor, so I ensured "Secure Virtual Machine Mode" was enabled in the BIOS
I uninstalled/reinstalled both VirtualBox and Genymotion
Ensured "Promiscuous Mode" was set to "Allow VMs" under the VirtualBox network settings
In VirtualBox opened Host Network Manager - deleted it, restarted and re-tryed.
Completely Disabled my Firewall
I ensured the Host Network Manager settings were correct. See screenshots below:
Id I attempt to run it directly from VirtualBox, I get an error that says "eth0 is not configured correctly - HARDWARE OPENGL IS DISABLED !!!"
This is what the settings look like in VirtualBox:
Start Genymotion, and get its ip address on the Host private network (use virtualbox interface, or in host's console adb shell ifconfig ) In your host's console execute adb tcpip 5556. Start your other VM, and in its console execute adb connect <ip_of_genymotion>:5556.
You are trying to run Genymotion Desktop in a virtual machine, a server or a Windows Cloud instance (AWS, GCP, Azure, ...) Genymotion Desktop has been designed to run in a physical environment. For this reason, Genymotion Desktop will not work if run in a virtual machine, a server nor a Cloud instance.
In VirtualBox Manager you can configure the DHCP server by choosing File, Tools, Network Manager. The Network Manager window lists all host-only networks which are presently in use. Select the network name and then use the DHCP Server tab to configure DHCP server settings. See Section 6.11, “Network Manager”.
Ofcourse it needs another virtual box. Think of it as you are running mint in a virtual box container, now to run the gennymotion emulators you need to install the virtual box, but this is very tideous are bad idea, it is recomended that you do a full OS install. Show activity on this post.
start VirtualBox ,RightClick on Intended device, click start then Click normal start normal wait for window shows up,after seeing IP Management on that window, start Genymotion then start intended device.
dont forget do not close window.
