So this is a spring MVC application. I need goals for compiling, and building and packaging (an exploded war for production).
Where do I start?
I want to be able to all of this via the command-line, so it can be IDE independent.
Update So running mvn clean install worked!
why are my classes duplicated?
1) in the /classes folder
2) /myapp-1.0/web-inf/classes folder.

Spring MVC Dependencies to pom. We need to add spring-web and spring-webmvc dependencies in pom. xml, also add servlet-api, jsp-api and jstl dependencies.
The alternate to run the spring boot without building the JAR file is to run the command mvnspring-boot:run. This command makes sure that the POM. xml has the plugin which signifies that we want to use Tomcat to run our code. When the code is run in the project root folder the plugin reads the POM.
