Firebase crash reports are deobfuscated without line numbers

Currently crash reports are shown as

Exception java.lang.NullPointerException:
com.temp.app.Helper.convertToString (Helper.java:(no line number here))
com.temp.app..fragment.FragmentEnterName$6.run (FragmentEnterName.java:(no line number here))
android.os.Handler.handleCallback (Handler.java:733)
android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage (Handler.java:95)
android.os.Looper.loop (Looper.java:146)
android.app.ActivityThread.main (ActivityThread.java:5692)
java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative (Method.java)
java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke (Method.java:515)
com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run (ZygoteInit.java:1291)
com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main (ZygoteInit.java:1107)
dalvik.system.NativeStart.main (NativeStart.java)

but it should be like

Exception java.lang.NullPointerException:
com.temp.app.Helper.convertToString (Helper.java:25)
com.temp.app..fragment.FragmentEnterName$6.run (FragmentEnterName.java:15)
android.os.Handler.handleCallback (Handler.java:733)
android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage (Handler.java:95)
android.os.Looper.loop (Looper.java:146)
android.app.ActivityThread.main (ActivityThread.java:5692)

java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke (Method.java:515)
com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run (ZygoteInit.java:1291)
com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main (ZygoteInit.java:1107)

I am using default proguard-android.txt available in sdk\tools\proguard\proguard-android.txt

Content of config file is

# versions are distributed with the plugin and unpacked at build time. Files in this directory are

# Note that if you want to enable optimization, you cannot just
# include optimization flags in your own project configuration file;
# instead you will need to point to the
# "proguard-android-optimize.txt" file instead of this one from your
# project.properties file.

Add this to your proguard config and it will add the line number in firebase:

-renamesourcefileattribute SourceFile
-keepattributes SourceFile,LineNumberTable
like image 133
