Error on installing Visual Ruby on OSX

I am trying to install Visual Ruby on OSX. Following the guide on VisualRuby.net I did the following.

brew install gtk+

then:

brew install gtksourceview

and finally:

sudo gem install visualruby

which yields the following error message. I have no idea what is wrong, any ideas?

Building native extensions. This could take a while...

I ran into the same issue. I found out that Mountain Lion is missing the libxml-2.0.pc file in /usr/lib/pkgconfig as mentioned here.

After ensuring that libxml2 was installed:

brew install libxml2

I created the suggested symlink which allowed me to install VisualRuby.

sudo ln -s /usr/local/Cellar/libxml2/2.9.0/lib/pkgconfig/libxml-2.0.pc /usr/lib/pkgconfig
