Does anybody know of an English verb inflector that I can use on a lexicon of verbs (in present-participle) that can give me other inflected forms of the verbs?
For example:
I give it I get
========= ======================================
run ran, running, runs
sing sang, singing, sings
play played, playing, plays
The plural forms of nouns, the past tense, past participle, and present participle forms of verbs, and the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs are known as inflected forms.
Conjugation is the change that takes place in a verb to express tense, mood, person and so on. In English, verbs change as they are used, most notably with different people (you, I, we) and different time (now, later, before). Conjugating verbs essentially means altering them into different forms to provide context.
Verb tenses tell us how an action relates to the flow of time. There are three main verb tenses in English: present, past and future. The present, past and future tenses are divided into four aspects: the simple, progressive, perfect and perfect progressive.
The simple tenses (past, present, and future) are the most basic forms, but there are 12 major verb tenses in English in all.
Morphg is a stand-alone tool which provides this functionality. The inverse, i.e. finding the lemma of a verb, is provided by its sister, Morpha.
