Does subversion support word, excel and powerpoint documents? "support" here means having history available and I can get old version out from the subversion. It will be nice if I can diff different versions. thanks,

Git and GitHub do commits on pretty much any file type for writing, although it works best with plain text. If you write in Microsoft Word, it'll work, but you won't be able to see your past commits on the command line or in GitHub.
Version control is accessible through Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or the Office 365 Portal. From the open file, click on the File tab: You will see the current version at the top and previous versions thereafter.
Click the File tab. Do one of the following: To convert the document without saving a copy, click Info, and then click Convert. To create a new copy of the document in Word 2016 or Word 2013 mode, click Save As, and then choose the location and the folder where you want to save the new copy.
Yes, and TortoiseSVN supports diffing for Word and Excel really well, by invoking those app's native document comparison functions (not sure about PowerPoint).
