People also ask

How do you check if IIS has been restarted?

Server event logs It may also be possible to see previous recycles/restarts by opening Event Viewer on the server and opening the System event log. Filtering the log to the "WAS" source will show when a process has been recycled, providing that the appropriate logging is configured.

What happens when reset IIS?

What does IISRESET do? IISRESET restarts all IIS services, shutting down any active IIS worker processes in the process and killing them if they do not stop in time. During the restart, the web server stops listening for incoming requests and causes downtime for all websites on the server.

Can IIS logs be deleted?

These log files are produced by Microsoft Internet Information Services. By default: The files are simply log files of accesses to the Web server. It is safe to delete all the old log files.

  1. Open Event viewer, navigate to "Windows Logs" -> "System"
  2. on the right "Actions" pane, select "filter Current Log..."
  3. Under "Event Sources:" select or type "IIS-IISReset"
  4. hit ok

Results in event viewer should now just show you IIS Resets

Like for other Windows services, the Service Control Manager (SCM) keeps track of service restarts on the System Log of the machine. Please take a look at the Event Viewer to see them.
