I'm thinking about trying my hand at a Windows Phone 7 app, and I'd like to put it up on the market place. I know I don't need a phone to create the app (I've toyed around with the emulator already), but would it be folly to release an app without having an actual unit to test it on? Or is the emulator sufficient?
Microsoft Download Manager is free and available for download now. The Windows Phone Software Development Kit (SDK) 8.0 provides you with the tools that you need to develop apps and games for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.5. Note: There are multiple files available for this download.
The Your Phone application serves no purposes if the user does not want to link a phone to the Microsoft Account and Windows 10 PC. Why then, does it need to remain on the system? Some apps can be uninstalled natively. Just hit Windows-I to open the Settings application and go to Apps > Apps & Features.
How does the Your Phone app work? Once you download the Your Phone application on your Windows computer, you will need to spend some time configuring the settings and connecting your Android phone to your PC. Users should note that the application only works on devices running Android 7.0+.
No, it's not necessary to have a phone. In fact none have been released, so unless you were in the lucky group to get a developer phone from Microsoft, you have to develop without one. The emulator that ships with the tools is how most developers are creating and testing applications today.
