I'm looking into using a performance and monitoring tool for my web application hosted on Azure.
I was wondering what the main differences are between Microsoft's Application Insights and New Relic?
Thanks.
Difference between Azure Monitor and Application InsightsAzure monitor can collect the data from variety of the sources like application, guest OS azure resources and tenants. Azure Application Insights is meant for collection the application data only.
New Relic Insights is your key to unlocking the full value and potential within all of this data. Insights doesn't just collect and manage data; it performs a wide range of analytical tasks, and it presents insights using visualizations and other highly intuitive, easy to use tools.
New Relic is the monitoring tool implemented to track the characteristic views based on mobile, web browsers, and desktop applications. Whereas Splunk is based on event management and handles the data to give their enterprise with alerts and event logs. It also provides high security to the data.
New Relic is a Software as a Service offering that focuses on performance and availability monitoring. It uses a standardized Apdex (application performance index) score to set and rate application performance across the environment in a unified manner.
There are many feature differences between the two products and such comparisons are usually subjective in nature. The following key themes are noted by customers as particular strengths of App Insights, when compared to New Relic:
