My Dell 2709w monitor recently started acting weird. On some page it renders different colors, where it shouldn't.
It only does this on the external monitor, not the macbook itself. And it is only in chrome. safari and firefox does not do this.
I am running macOS Sierra
Here is what it does:
Those light spots should not be there!
Scroll down the page until the point "Force Color Profile". In my case, I had to change the value from "Default" to "sRGB". The correct value may vary, so just test out which one looks best on your monitor. Restart the Chrome Browser to apply the change.
By default both Firefox and Safari use the sRGB color profile. You must do the same, if your Google Chrome takes a different color profile as default. Change Force color profile to "sRGB". Relaunch your browser and testify the rendered colors now.
Device Default will automatically match the colour scheme of your current device. And Dark will permanently stick to a dark background. If these settings don't appear for you, don't panic. It's entirely possible that the new feature hasn't rolled out for you just yet.
You can see the issue in the screenshot below: This happens due to changes that Google made in the color rendering of the Chrome Browser and it can be fixed easily: in the address bar of your Chrome Browser. If you are using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge web browsers and facing weird color related problems and issues on websites and browser UI, this article will help you in fixing the issue. Sometimes you may face color issues on several websites such as colors are either too bright or too dull.
We can force correct color profile in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge with the help of following steps: 1. Right-click on Google Chrome's or Microsoft Edge's shortcut (present on desktop, Start Menu, Taskbar, etc) and select Properties. 2. Now add following text at the end of the string present in Targettext box: --force-color-profile=srgb
Reading the contents of the bug report here, a workaround that has worked for me is to set the "GPU rasterization" flag to Enabled in the Chrome configuration flags editor:
chrome://flags/#enable-gpu-rasterization
