Can NFC in nexus s mobile can read ordinary RFID tags?
Yes, you can use your phone as RFID tag. For Android or Windows phones you enable NFC. In case of an Apple you need to enable Bluetooth.
You will first need an EM4100 card or fob to transfer RFID to your Android phone. You can then hold this up to the side of your phone with the NFC chip. Once you have done this, click on the “Read” button.
What is the difference between NFC vs RFID? In short: RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, a contactless one-way communication method at varying distances. NFC, Near Field Communication, allows for two-way communication and requires action by the user.
There have been many different RFID tags over the years and the Nexus S does not read them all. In particular the reader in the Nexus S can read many of what are called HF (high frequency) tags. It cannot read UHF (ultra high frequency) tags. Do you know the technology used in what you're referring to as 'ordinary' RFID tags?
