Android Release Version and "Waiting for Debugger"

I know this has been asked before but I still don't have a solution. My first app: developed and debugged on my moto droid and then followed all the release steps, (exported from Eclipse, using my key to sign) including removing the debug in the manifest xml.

I copied the resulting apk to the droid, disconnected the usb and installed it by double clicking on the file using Astro.

I get the "Waiting for Debugger" message like when I am debugging but it never goes away.

Doing something real stupid I know but I can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

What is the difference between debug and release Android?

Major differences are the debug apk and the release apk: For debug builds the apk will be signed with the default debug signing keys with debug flag enabled. For release apk you will have to explicitly specify the apk to sign with and the debug flag will be turned off so that it cannot be debugged.

How do I enable Wait for debugging?

Go to Settings > Developer options > Select debug app and choose your app from the list, then click Wait for debugger. Wait for the app to load and a dialog to appear telling you the app is waiting for a debugger.

How do I run Android in debug mode?

Press Ctrl + Alt + F5 (or Shift + F9 ) to launch the app in debug mode. Choose Run -> Attach to process and select the signature of an app to enable the debug mode, which is already installed via adb.
