I couldn't find anything on the web. Is there a way to use the AdMob SDK to monetize my app without having the app in the Google Play store.
Anybody of you who may know?

You can show ads in an app which is not available in Google Play Store. But, Adsense team regularly checks the apps in every account. If they find your app is not available in Google Play Store or banned in Google Play, they will suspend all the ad units related to the app in your AdMob account.
Must I publish the app via Market (Google Play) in order to start earning revenue? You need to publish your app and make it available for others to download and install it so that when they use the app, the ad requests are served. Only when the users click your ads will you be generating revenue.
Your AdMob account connects with your AdWords account to distribute your ads for your Android, iOS, or gaming applications.
You do not need to distribute your app through Google Play in order to use AdMob SDK. Regardless of the distribution method, it will work as long as it's correctly configured.
Google Play is just a way to distribute your apps.
