Airflow 1.10 - Unknown task runner type StandardTaskRunner

I just installed Airflow 1.10 onto a single server using

sudo -E pip-3.6 install apache-airflow[celery,devel,postgres]

I may have also ran this after that

sudo -E pip-3.6 install apache-airflow[all]

But at any rate when I run airflow version I get the following output

So I know I have Airflow 1.10 installed. I was able to run airflow initdb, airflow scheduler, and airflow webserver without any issues. But when I went to turn on one of my DAGs the scheduler threw the error

From what I read https://github.com/apache/incubator-airflow/blob/master/UPDATING.md they say,

Rename of BashTaskRunner to StandardTaskRunner BashTaskRunner has been renamed to StandardTaskRunner. It is the default task runner so you might need to update your config.

Update:

Despite the release documents clearly saying task_runner must equal StandardTaskRunner I can only get it working by changing it back to the original BashTaskRunner. Once I set task_runner=BashTaskRunner in the airflow.cfg file it works. The release notes clearly contradict this though so consider me confused!

Airflow Celery is a task queue that helps users scale and integrate with other languages. It comes with the tools and support you need to run such a system in production. Executors in Airflow are the mechanism by which users can run the task instances.

Where is Airflow config file?

The first time you run Airflow, it will create a file called airflow. cfg in your $AIRFLOW_HOME directory ( ~/airflow by default). This file contains Airflow's configuration and you can edit it to change any of the settings.

StandardTaskRunner is what's currently supported in the Master build for Airflow, but not for the 1.10 release. Do not update your task_runner from BashTaskRunner quite yet!

The only reason that comes to mind is:

Do you have two versions of airflow installed on that system? That error is coming from the task instance that is being run. So when it runs airflow run... the airflow command it runs could be a non 1.10 version which doesn't have the StandardTaskRunner

Do you have a run_as_user set in the task?
