Is it possible to add team members to an individual developer account? The documentation says that it is possible for a company developer account; can you convert an individual to a company developer account?

Sign in to your developer account and click the Membership tab. Scroll down to Settings, and click Transfer Your Account Holder Role. In the dialog that appears, click Transfer Account Holder Role. Complete and submit the form.
Click Xcode > Preferences > Accounts. In the resulting dialog, click the small plus sign under the left side list of accounts and servers. Complete the resulting form, providing your Apple ID and password. Close Preferences, and then change the Team list box entry from None to the team associated with the Apple ID.
Can I switch my membership from an individual to an organization? Yes, if you are the founder/co-founder of the organization. To start the conversion process, please contact us. You may be asked to submit business documents to verify your organization's identity.
You can convert an individual account to a company account. It does require that you have a registered business name, and will take about a week to be approved by apple. An individual ccount has a team size of 1 - you.
