Do access .MDB files have an upper size limit? Will, for example, applications that connect to an .MDB file over 1GB have problems?
What problems/risks are there with MDB files over 1GB and what can be done?
2 gigabytes, minus the space needed for system objects. Note: You can work around this size limitation by linking to tables in other Access databases. You can link to tables in multiple database files, each of which can be as large as 2GB.
Limitation of Access: The Warden or designee may limit religious programs, practices, or services if such would threaten the security, safety, or well-being of the institution, its visitors, inmates, or staff, and where there are specific facts to substantiate the threat.
Access is well able to handle a million or 5 million records. SQL Server goes well into BILLIONS of records.
Yes. The maximum size for an MDB file is 2 GB and yes any file over 1 GB is really pushing Access.
