I used to do a lot of number crunching on Matlab but now I am a newbie at Python. Reasons to convert:-

1) Cost, especially when I want to commercialize my routine; 2) Matlab codes are extremely hard to maintain; 3) And by doing Python, I can add a lot more values to myself since I can do other things like database in it.

I found that there are a lot of Python experts in Stack Overflow, so, here I am!
